Beauty Tips for Women Over 30

Think back to teenage years, when your doctor warned that not eating properly or exercising would prematurely age your skin and body. That probably didn't stop you from eating a large bowl of double chocolate fudge ice cream and following that up with a nap. Now that you are over 30, you wish you had listened to your doctor’s advice. But all is not lost. Women over 30 can utilize several beauty tips to preserve their skin and bring out their natural beauty.

Moisturize
According to the Goodhousekeeping website, if you're in your 20s or 30s, moisturizers will give you some of the protection you need to keep skin from prematurely aging. Since excessive sun is one way to dry out the skin, moisturizers with SPF (Sun Protection Factor) work best. Drinking water is another way to keep skin hydrated. You should drink at least eight to 10 eight-ounce glasses of water a day to keep your healthy glow.

Update Hair and Makeup
Pull out a picture of yourself from 20 years ago. If you are still wearing that same frosted blue eye shadow and mile-high beehive, it may be time for a change. According to the Goodhousekeeping website, you should update your hair and makeup every two years. Make-up and hairstyles change dramatically over the course of a season, so to look and feel your best, keep up with the trends. This doesn’t mean that as a 37-year-old woman with a rounder face you should mimic that pixie cut on that waifish 20-year-old. It simply means to update your look to enhance your features to give a current and polished appearance.

Consider Wearing a Foundation
As we settle into our 30s, skin tends to form dark patches, blemishes and fine lines. The good news is that these problems are correctable with the proper foundation. Use a foundation with an SPF of 15 or higher to protect your skin from sun damage. Apply the foundation to your neck, too, since this is another spot that is prone to blemishes and premature aging. To fix the problem of dull, lifeless skin, use an illuminating face foundation for a healthy glow. For extra enhancing effects, use a concealer or an illuminating powder. Be careful when applying; excessive concealer can create a mess and look fake.

Considerations
As much as you may not want to admit it, what the doctor told you at your last visit was spot on—eat healthy and exercise to slow down the aging process.
